Nadie se ríe de Dios cuando la desesperación nos colma los sentidos en momentos muy difíciles, pero si nos sentimos a salvo, damos a Dios por sentado. Vaya que esta canción me remeció por completo un día de tormenta de verano como hoy.

Y una canción de este calibre tenía que venir de una brillante cantautora como  REGINA SPEKTOR, intérprete ruso-estadounidense de voz sui-generis y letras tan ácidas como extraordinarias, y además de eso, una judía que creció en mitad del Bronx, Nueva York. Spektor es un ícono actual de la música indie, siendo así mismo asociada al llamado género de "anti-folk", música underground nacida en Nueva York que toma elementos del folk y del punk de los 70s y que con ellos se ríe de lo establecido.

Pero Spektor no sólo es irónica hasta el tuétano y divertida como la resaca después del año nuevo (como en éxitos radiales como "Fidelity" y "On the Radio"), sino que además es pianista y las notas de su piano se entremezclan semiperfectamente con las de su voz para hacer de ella un material imperdible en cualquier colección de la década del 2000. Canciones como "Laughing With" (publicada en su álbum "Far", del 2009) simplemente desarticulan la linealidad neuronal que la música de esta última década nos intenta obligar a adoptar.
